Rhode Island Governor Nominates Three New Members to Governor’s Workforce Board
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee recently announced the nomination of three new members to the Governor’s Workforce Board. The nominees are Xay Khamsyvoravong, Jessica Key, and Tracey Wiley. The Governor’s Workforce Board plays a crucial role in workforce development in the state, working to plan, coordinate, fund, and evaluate education, employment, and training programs to benefit Rhode Island workers.
Xay Khamsyvoravong
Khamsyvoravong, a Newport city councilor and former mayor, has a strong background in finance and a dedication to improving Rhode Island’s education system and infrastructure. With experience in various financial institutions, including Webster Bank and CBRE Investment Management, Khamsyvoravong brings valuable insights to the board. He emphasized the importance of creating career pathways to good-paying jobs for Rhode Island’s economic growth and the well-being of its families.
Jessica Key
Key serves as the assistant commissioner of workforce and executive director of the Rhode Island Higher Education & Industry Centers, managing workforce development centers in the state. With previous experience at General Dynamics Electric Boat overseeing adult training pipelines and education programs, Key is committed to strengthening skills and resources for the next generation of workers in Rhode Island. She highlighted the significance of workforce development in driving the state’s growth and economic prosperity.
Tracey Wiley
Wiley, currently the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Bally’s Corporation, brings a wealth of experience in promoting diversity and creating access to opportunities for communities of color. With a background in small business development in Virginia, Wiley is dedicated to advancing a brighter future for all Rhode Islanders by enhancing access to education and employment opportunities.
All three nominees have been submitted to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent. Governor McKee expressed his confidence in the new members’ ability to contribute to the board’s efforts to support the next generation of workers and achieve the state’s goals for 2030.
