LNW Gaming to Close Michigan Facility, Resulting in Layoffs
Light & Wonder subsidiary LNW Gaming has recently announced its decision to shut down a facility located in Michigan. This move will unfortunately lead to layoffs affecting approximately 100 employees, as confirmed by a filing made by the company.

According to a WARN notice submitted to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity in February, the facility situated at 22630 Haggerty Road in Farmington Hills, Michigan, is scheduled to close next month. LNW Gaming has stated that the venue will be permanently closed, necessitating the unfortunate layoffs.
LNW Gaming has revealed that around 92 employees will be laid off due to the shutdown of the Michigan facility. The layoffs are set to commence on April 27 and will impact employees across various positions, including entry-level operators, game show presenters, managers, supervisors, and trainers.
The company mentioned that the affected workers are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.
Legal Setback for LNW Gaming
Recently, LNW Gaming faced legal challenges in Nevada, where a judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a case filed against the company.
The lawsuit was brought forward by Talisman Group, represented by the Las Vegas-based boutique law firm Bailey Kennedy. The dispute stemmed from LNW’s alleged violation of a distribution agreement for the popular baccarat product EZ Baccarat.
Despite leasing EZ Baccarat to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, LNW simultaneously promoted a competing no-commission baccarat game called Ruyi Baccarat. The judge sided with Talisman, agreeing that LNW had breached its contract with the group. Legal representatives for the plaintiff expressed satisfaction with the ruling, considering Talisman’s relatively small size compared to LNW Gaming.
Although the legal battle is ongoing and is set to continue in Vancouver, the outcome in Nevada was a significant blow to LNW Gaming.
Light & Wonder’s Exit from Live Casino Market
In other developments, Light & Wonder’s parent company has announced its decision to withdraw from the live-dealer iGaming sector. The announcement was made during the company’s recent earnings call, marking Evolution and Playtech as the remaining live casino suppliers in the US.
The management of Light & Wonder stated that they will shift their focus to other products, believing that these alternatives offer better visibility and higher returns compared to live casino gaming.
